Cut Negative Shit Out Of Your Life
19 October 2020
The world is full of negativity. It’s almost like it’s an oxygen that many people need to breathe to stay alive.
But, it’s a curse; it’s addictive. The more you have, the more you see, and the more you want.
The problem is that negativity and division sell. They sell adverts, they sell conversation (however divisive), and they enable the people running many of the social platforms to make a lot of money. A LOT.
The Social Dilemma is an eye-opening documentary about this if you’ve not seen it.
On a societal scale, it’s shit. Misinformation is combined with distorted news, churned up by idiots online to create a whirlpool of WTF.
The thing is; if you listen to talk radio, obsess over the news, or follow and engage with opinionated people on social media, guess what, you’ll get angrier.
But, it’s not all shit. Harvard psychologist Steven Pinker creates a great article, and his TED talk is well worth a watch if you want some perspective.
Chose Your Own Path
In your own life, the same thing happens. Your social network in the real world is fed by the same channels as you – some more, some less. And, depending on who you hang out with shapes your model of the world.
So, why not chose positivity? Surely that’s more attractive, right?
Cut that negative shit out of your life.
Cut negative people out of your life.
If you are going to brainwash yourself, why not do it with positive people?
